James Scheibel (born August 30, 1947) is an American politician who was endorsed by the Minnesota Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party. From 1990 to 1994, he served as the mayor of Saint Paul, Minnesota, succeeding George Latimer. A graduate of Saint John's University, As mayor, Scheibel led efforts to tackle the problems of homelessness, hunger and refugee services.〔(Washington Post, December 25, 1993 )〕〔(New York Times, December 25, 1991 )〕〔(State Legislatures April 1, 1993 )〕 Scheibel was succeeded by Norm Coleman. After his mayoralty, Scheibel served as vice president for the Corporation for National and Community Service and as a nonprofit executive.
